James Horton

“Whilst not born a showman, I was bitten by the bug from an early age. Vintage fairground rides caught my attention and working with them has always been what I wanted to do. Now, 40 years since first commencing restoration of our No. 1 Gallopers, I am still totally passionate about everything we do.”

Austin Cars

“Even after nearly 30 years I am still learning something new everyday, as my knowledge of traditional fairgrounds has grown so has my passion. I am proud of what we have achieved as a family and being able to present our rides and vintage fairground attractions at such a wide array of events.”

Charlotte Horton

“There’s no feeling like being out amongst our traditional fairground attractions, the lights, the music and the colours make such a magical, romantic experience. Witnessing others enjoy and love our rides makes all the hard work worthwhile.”

George Read

“I first rode James Horton's Gallopers as a very young child. My grandfather had a passion for the fairground preservation movement and that passion has passed to me. My role with Horton's Steam Fair is a varied one that I enjoy. No two days are ever the same. I love the pride that we all have in the amusements, ensuring that the equipment is maintained and presented to the highest standards for all to enjoy.”

Jason Coneley

“I have been helping Horton’s part time for over 10 years now. Although I have been busy with my studies, I found the pull of the fair keeps entrancing me back. I enjoy the social side, meeting and talking to fair-goers, hearing their fairground memories and which ride or game stall has entranced them back to visit us each year.”

Anna Kent

We recently hired your beautiful Coconut Shy for a commercial photo shoot. James and his team have been a real pleasure to work with, especially helpful and accommodating.
I wouldn't hesitate to work with them again or recommend them to anyone looking to hire beautiful vintage amusements.

David & Bridget Shepley-Cuthbert

We cannot thank you, Antony and the team for your contribution to our 40th evening and the 'Yellow Perils' 100th birthday. Most guests jaws dropped as they turned into the field. The Galloper looked magic on Saturday evening as the light faded. It gave so much joy and fun to so many. Those little cars were heaven for small children who I gather were glued to them. The Hook-a-Duck and Coconut shy each gave pleasure to all ages. A big thank you for making my mad dream of a cars birthday party come true for all ages.

Littlehampton Town Council

Thank you so much for being a part of the "Littlehampton 150th" event. The day was a success and your involvement invaluable.

Lyndsay Ridley - English Heritage

The Gallopers were beautiful and even our director commented that it made the event! Thank you ever so much.
Also, your team were great and really good with the public. A big thumbs up all round!

Robyn Paiba, Art Director

As a busy art director in film and television I am always relieved to meet suppliers who not only meet your needs but surpass them.
James and the team at Horton's were a true pleasure to work with. Their patience and good humour when responding to any demand made the job run smoothly.
They supply a wonderful product and a reliable, efficient, affordable service.

Victoria Cushing

I just wanted to write to say thank you so much for bringing the Gallopers to our wedding.
I can honestly say it made the wedding.
